Smoked Maple Hummus Crowned Winner of Sassool’s Annual Hummus Mix-Off
Raleigh, NC – August 21, 2025 – Sassool Mediterranean Café is excited to announce the winner of this year’s Annual Hummus Mix-Off, Christian Hoover, whose creative Smoked Maple Hummus impressed the community with its unique balance of sweet and savory flavors. Chosen by popular vote during the spirited competition held at Sassool’s Cary location, Hoover’s hummus earned him the coveted title of 2025 Hummus Champion.
“This was my first time entering the hummus contest but I’ve been thinking of doing it for years. I’ve entered BBQ and chili contests, but hummus is a new challenge.” said Hoover. “I love making BBQ sauce and tried to make a hummus that brought some of those flavors - that’s how I came up with smokey maple hummus! Hope everyone enjoys it!.”
Beyond his passion for food, Hoover is also committed to making a difference in the community. He is actively involved in Team Hoover, a nonprofit that raises money to support the needs of patients living with multiple sclerosis.
As part of his win, Hoover’s Smoked Maple Hummus will be featured in Sassool’s deli cases throughout September as the monthly special, giving customers the opportunity to enjoy this award-winning recipe for themselves.
