Erik Martella Wines Introduces Two Elegant New Wines for Spring: Pét-Nat Sparkling Rosé and Hickory Bark Aged Noble
Yadkin Valley, NC – May 29, 2025 – Erik Martella Wines is proud to unveil two innovative and expressive wines just in time for the spring season: Pét-Nat Sparkling Rosé of Noble and Noble Aged on Toasted Hickory Bark. These limited-edition releases embody the dedication to craftsmanship, experimentation, and a deep appreciation for the Noble muscadine grape.
From ancient fermentation techniques to wild-foraged elements, these wines highlight Erik’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of what muscadine wine can be: rustic, refined, and completely unforgettable.
Pét-Nat Sparkling Rosé of Noble (Yadkin Valley, 2024)
Crafted using the centuries-old méthode ancestrale, this Pét-Nat (short for pétillant naturel, or “naturally sparkling”) rosé finishes fermentation in the bottle, capturing natural effervescence and creating a vivacious, lightly sparkling wine.
Unfiltered and bursting with character, this rosé glows with a hazy blush hue and aromas of grapefruit zest and springtime florals. Made from Noble muscadine grapes grown in the Yadkin Valley, the wine’s vibrant acidity and gentle fizz make it a joyful choice for picnics, porch sipping, and celebratory spring gatherings.
Noble Aged on Toasted Hickory Bark (Yadkin County, 2023)
For this unexpected wine, winemaker Erik Martella foraged hickory bark from the North Carolina woods, chipped and toasted it by hand to coax out warm notes of caramel, roasted nuts, and spice. The Noble muscadine wine was then aged on the bark for several weeks, resulting in a deeply complex expression that balances the grape’s natural fruitiness with woodsy, fireside depth.
Art Meets Innovation
Both wines are dressed in custom-designed labels that blend art deco elegance with natural elements representing each wine’s soul. Created by Kim Gritzer, Erik’s longtime friend and an artist behind ride designs at Universal Studios Orlando, the labels elevate these bottles to collectible works of art.
A Continued Journey with Muscadine
These spring releases continue Erik Martella’s mission to redefine muscadine wine through small-batch, thoughtfully crafted expressions rooted in Southern heritage and a modern winemaking perspective. With a master’s in enology from UC Davis and more than two decades of winemaking experience, Erik remains committed to showcasing the fine wine potential of the American South’s most misunderstood grape.
Both wines are now available in limited quantities for purchase directly from Erik Martella Wines. To learn more, visit their website erikmartellawines.com, or connect with them on social media through Facebook and Instagram.
