Sassool Co-Owner, Lisa Saleh, Announces New Book

Raleigh, NC - April 24, 2023 - Lisa Saleh, co-owner of Sassool Cafe in Cary and Raleigh, NC has written a new book, Moussa Domit: A True Artist. Inspired by her husband’s uncle, Saleh has spent the last year and a half researching and developing the story behind the book. A commemorative biography about a Lebanese man, Moussa Domit, this story shares how Domit immigrated to America, became a successful art museum director, and was responsible for bringing his sister, Cecilia, and her family to join him. The family started a bakery called Neomonde, which ultimately led to the establishment of several restaurants in the greater Raleigh area. Moussa Domit: A True Artist is self-published by Saleh and can be purchased online

Saleh describes the book as “a commemorative biography that has the feel of reading a documentary.” The research behind the book regarding Domit’s career came from several news articles written about him over the years. Domit’s professional career is very well documented online; however, Saleh conducted interviews with family members, and some of their stories will appear in the book.

To help connect the reader with the story, there are collections of photos throughout the book. Saleh and her husband, Mounir Saleh, took photos of each of the art museums that they visited in which Domit worked during his career. Saleh says, “As we walked the halls and galleries of each of those museums, we felt inspired walking in his footsteps. This is what drove me to write this fascinating story."

Moussa Domit: A True Artist is available on Amazon and Kindle in both paperback and ebook versions. To purchase, click here.
