Sassool Owner and Marketing & Catering Director, Simone Lawson, Awarded 2023 Movers and Shakers Honoree

Sassool’s Owner and Marketing & Catering Director, Simone Lawson, was awarded a 2023 Movers and Shakers Honoree. Movers and Shakers is awarded by Cary Magazine to accomplished young professionals making a difference in the local area. Lawson, along with the other talented individuals, are nominated by their fellow Cary community members. This year’s Movers and Shakers recipients range from entrepreneurs, educators, artists, advocates, and more.

“I was surprised but incredibly honored and excited to be nominated for a Movers and Shakers this year,” says Lawson. “I love working in and serving the Cary community and appreciate Cary Magazine presenting this award to me. I feel so grateful to be included with so many talented recipients.”

Cary Magazine interviewed Lawson on how she successfully runs her business and what inspires her. “Telling a story and creating an experience (paired with a good meal) is what inspires me. Myself, my father, and my sister (the ownership team) are so inspired by Lebanese hospitality and the example that my grandmother (Sassool) showed to anyone she met,” Lawson shares with Cary Magazine. “At Sassool, having our guests enjoy tasty food is so personal to us; we are literally living out the tradition of our culture. Seeing people’s eyes light up when I hand them their plate or when I uncover dishes at big caterings makes me want to be in the food business forever.”
