The RDU Mobile Food Association Announces Third Annual Tacopalooza Food Truck Rodeo and Competition

The RDU Mobile Food Association (RDUMFA) is pleased to announce the date of their third annual Tacopalooza food truck rodeo and competition, August 18, 2019 at Knightdale Station located at 810 N First Ave., Knightdale, NC 27545. Join Tacopalooza for a taco-filled day from 11am to 3pm.

With 13 food trucks participating, Tacopalooza's mission is to highlight the best tacos in the Triangle. Each mobile food vendor is required to only serve tacos or taco-themed foods. Admission is free and attendees can purchase tacos directly from each food truck. 

The participating food trucks include:

  • Poblanos Tacos

  • Sweet Escape by Plabanos

  • Succotash Durham

  • La Repùblica

  • Bruster's Ice Cream Truck

  • Bandido's

  • Kono Raleigh

  • Tacos Las Gringas

  • Jam Ice Cream

  • El Jefecito

  • The 13th Taco

  • Qspresso

  • Gonza Tacos y Tequila

Expect to find games and fun for the children like a bouncy house, as well as entertainment from La Grande radio station. Drawings for special prizes will take place from 1pm to 3pm, all of which are donated by the vendors and RDUMFA.

11am: A judges panel will convene to select a victor for the best taco. The winning food truck will receive a trophy. Judges include the Soul-Full Sisters, Chef Kyle Teears of Whiskey Kitchen and Chef-Owner Tom Cuomo of Papa Shogun.

12pm to 3pm: The general public can enjoy all the tacos their hearts desire!

1pm:Up to ten participants will compete in a taco eating contest to see who can eat the most tacos in three minutes. The winner will receive a trophy and a $50 gift certificate to spend at any RDUMFA truck. The cost to compete is $10. To register for the contest, please email ceo@rdumfa.org.
