#TabletopTeam Holiday Traditions

It’s that time of the year again! 🎄🎅 Through the hustle and bustle of shopping, Christmas parties, and finding time to bake your favorite goodies, there are always those moments that you look forward to when you’re surrounded by your favorite people. We love this season so much, and are so thankful for our clients. As you get cozy with a blanket and turn on a Christmas movie, we thought it would be special to share some of our favorite traditions!

Kristen Baughman, Founder

“I absolutely love Christmas Eve! When we were little, my brother, sister and I put on a Christmas play for my parents. I'll never forget my brother Kevin playing the part of an angel, decked out in a festival white outfit and sparkly halo! I always wrote the script (bossy older sis!) and we practiced for more than month until it was perfect. Christmas Eve was always the big "unveiling" of our production and my dad made sure to video tape every show. Afterwards, we received a special ornament from Mom and ate lots of tasty bites like cheese and charcuterie, lil' smokies, and baked brie with apple wedges, to name a few.

Now, each holiday we visit Mom and Dad's house in Charlotte. It's a little bit different since we are older on Christmas Eve, but we reminisce about the holiday plays, play fun games, received and ornament and of course, enjoy lots of tasty hors d'oeuvres. One year, my mom surprised us and dug up an old script she saved. She made us reenact the play, and my brother even did a reindeer pose - let's just say we were all cracking up that Christmas Eve!“

“Since my son, Calvin, was born in 2012, we get a new ornament with all of our faces (well, generic faces) each year. We also choose 2 children each year off the Salvation Army Angel Tree to buy clothing and toys for. My 6-year-old son is starting to understand and enjoy this more each year.”

“Every year the three generations of ladies in my family get together before Christmas for Cookie Day! We bake and decorate all day long. We always make sugar and gingerbread cookies, along with Peanut Butter Balls, and whatever other crazy recipes my cousins find.”

“Our favorite tradition is having fondue on Christmas Eve. I have no photos of this unfortunately. I think because we just really try to enjoy each other and stay off our phones during this time. We do a cheese fondue with apples, several types of local breads, and vegetables. Then we do a chocolate fondue for dessert including strawberries, marshmallows, shortbread cookies, and bananas.

It's our way of getting around the table and having an interactive dinner where we actually talk, laugh, and connect. As our children have grown into adults, this has become a more important tradition each year.”

Megan Taber, Social Media Manager

“One of our favorite holiday traditions is to make gingerbread houses as a family. The girls love to snack on all the toppings while decorating!”

Quinn Carlton, Social Media Manager

“My family calls Christmas Eve ‘The Best Day of The Year.’ Because it truly is. My mom’s side of the family gets together and we do Secret Santa and Chinese Christmas. My Grandparents always made Christmas Eve so special, so when my they passed away, we all promised each other that we would keep the tradition alive for as long we can. Family is what makes the holidays so special.“
