Coronato to Sell Special Gold Chocolate Bars in Collaboration with Videri Chocolate Factory

Chef-Owner Teddy Diggs of Coronato and Co-Founder/Head Chocolate Maker Sam Ratto of Videri Chocolate Factory collaborated to create special gold bars this past Monday, Aug. 5th at Videri in Raleigh, NC. The bars—Videri’s classic dark chocolate variety—contain an edible 24 karat gold leaf, much like that of Willy Wonka’s signature “golden ticket” bars in the beloved film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.

Videri's chocolate bars will be available on Coronato’s dessert menu for $6 upon the opening of the restaurant in Carrboro, NC later this August 2019. One out of every 40 bars contains Coronato's addition of gold leaf, an ode to the signature gold crown found in Coronato’s logo. If you’re lucky enough to unwrap a special gold bar, instead of a trip to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory you’ll receive a golden ticket for a free pizza next time you visit Coronato!

The Perfect Pair
Diggs and Ratto have known each other for more than 5 years, and Diggs used Videri’s chocolate while serving as Executive Chef of Il Palio at the Siena Hotel in Chapel Hill, NC. This new collaboration with Diggs’ own Coronato is meant to be fun while highlighting Ratto, a talented artisan in the Triangle community. Plus, everyone loves pizza and chocolate!

About Coronato
Chef Teddy Diggs’ Carrboro-based Coronato will feature the only Roman-style pizza in North Carolina; a crispy, thin, almost cracker-like crust pizza that Diggs embellishes with good quality extra virgin olive oil and a diverse range of ingredients inspired by both local farmers and Roman traditions. Pies are served with a selection of local craft beers and ciders, prosecco and spritz on tap, and noteworthy Italian wines. Diggs’s dedication to preserving Roman culture and creating a lively atmosphere for pizza lovers will make every trip to Coronato feel like a vacation. 101 Two Hills Rd. #140, Carrboro, N.C. 27510.
